Class 1:  JavaScript Core – What Makes JavaScript Tick?

                                         When:

Saturday, May 3, 2008         8:30 AM to 4:30 PM , with appropriate breaks

                              Where:

Imperial Palace Hotel – 3655 Las Vegas Boulevard South Las Vegas , NV 89103

                              Attendees:
Content developers using any technologies built on JavaScript (Acrobat/PDF, Flash, AJAX )

                              Prerequisites:
Some experience with using JavaScript, or programming experience in another language

Goals:
Participation at this workshop helps understanding the principles of JavaScript programming, and empowers

the attendee to be more efficient in developing the "engines" for JavaScript-based applications.

                             Description:
In this workshop, we look at the fundamental components of JavaScript, which is called the "Core". Understanding
the Core helps a lot with the implementation of user interaction and intelligent applications. In particular, we
                                 discuss the following topics:

                                    •  Fundamentals (syntax, types, statements, expressions and operators)
                                    •  Numbers (the Number object and some math)
                                    •  Date and time (the Date object, and calculations with date and time)
                                    •  Text (the String object; how to manipulate text with its methods and Regular Expressions)
                                    •  Lists and Data (the Array object and its use, and dealing with XML)

                             Notes:

This workshop has hands-on examples, and the attendees will bring along their own omputers. A local area
network will be provided, and the attendees must be able to connect to a web server on this network.

This workshop suits users of any JavaScript implementation. Because of its ease to access the Core functions,
most of the examples will be shown using Acrobat. The attendees must therefore have a copy of Acrobat
Professional (7 or 8) installed on their computers (the evaluation copy, downloadable from Adobe.com, is
acceptable). For users not very familiar with the Acrobat Forms features, a short introduction crash-course
will be provided before the workshop begins.

Class 2: Application Development with Adobe© Acrobat

intelligent forms using the PDF platform. Flash programmers are very welcome.

                            Prerequisites:
Some programming experience with JavaScript or another language; Familiarity with the
                                 Acrobat concepts and user interface.

Application Developments and very intelligent forms.
